Every MMORPG has a different armor system, and if you’re familiar with Final Fantasy XIV, then you may know how its system is job-specific. Similarly, in World of Warcraft, the armor system is dependent upon certain classes, and in Elder Scrolls, they add additional skills to every class. However, that’s not what we are here to talk about, because our highlight for the day is the game New World.
The armor system in New World is similar to that of Elder Scroll, where you can utilize any type of armor. The only difference in New World is that if you specialize in an armor type; it offers exclusive buffs.
New World: Armor Types
There are three different categories of armors in New World that offer various bonuses depending upon the piece that the player has equipped. The three categories are; Light, Medium, and Heavy.
Light Armor offers the best DPS boost and dodge, whereas Medium Armor offers slightly lesser damage buff as compared to Light Armors but they have better CC, and Heavy Armor offers the best resistance as well as CC strength, but it carries the weakest dodge. Let’s fall a little more into detail.
Light Armor
Also known as the most ‘Mobile Armor’ in the game with an amazing DPS capability. It offers the best dodge alongside a 20% damage bonus. So, if you’re looking to deal as much damage as possible, then the Light Armor category is to consider.
Medium Armor
Medium Armors increase the overall damage by 10%, which is 10% lesser as compared to the Light Armor. However, it does enhance the Crowd Control (CC) effects by a whole 10%, while turning your dodge into a hop to create enough space to escape dreadful mobs.
Heavy Armor
Heavy Armor centers around absorbing immense damage, and there’s no other armor in New World that can do the same, for these New World Armor sets. However, due to its heavyweight, dodge doesn’t create as much as distance when compared to Light & Medium Armor. But the gap is covered with its CC effects increased to 20% and block stability increased to 15%. So, if you fall more towards the category of CC Bots, Tanks, or Frontline Juggernauts (PVP), then there isn’t any better option to choose.
New World: Armor Weight
There’s a weight system in New World that determines the classification of the armor being utilized by a player. So, it’s a good addition because you can get creative with different combinations. For instance, if you’re looking for bonuses from Light Armor, then equip and focus mainly on Light Armor pieces. That way you can make enough space to equip a Medium Armor piece for extra damage while using the buffs offered by Light Armor. The same goes for Medium and Heavy Armor, for New World Armor Guide.
Speaking of end-game content, you can get creative with individual pieces of equipment. You never know when you can acquire tier-5 equipment from Crafting, Expeditions, or Corrupted Events, which may turn out to be perfect for your build. Honestly, the armor system added by Amazon Games is outstanding and worth experimenting with.
New Work: Armor Sets
Being an RGP after all, New World has brought various cosmetic armor sets to buff up your characters. There are several armor sets in the game, and we’d like to point some of the noteworthy ones out, for New World Armor Sets.
The Fishermen’s Set is a fishing reward set that grants a slight boost to your primary stats. The Lumberjack Set is acquired through the gathering framework by trading and crafting. Deep Mist Set can be acquired through questing, mob kills, and treasure chests. Duelist Set can be obtained in the form of loot or drops from PVE sources, and it offers a defensive bonus against elemental attacks.
Sage’s Set is a well-known crafting set that is available to players at Tier 3 & 5 of the crafting skill. Explorer’s Set is an ideal PVE set for players who wish to freely travel in the open world. Soldier’s Set offers a bonus in strength, alongside heavy armor classifications that can be traded or crafted at the Trading Post (Auction House).
New World: Armor Repairing
If you want to repair your armor, then you need to first obtain the necessary parts by salvaging your gear. You earn a few repair parts and gold every time you salvage an armor piece. These obtained repair parts can be spent to fix specific gear pieces, or you can opt for the ‘Repair All’ option to repair the whole armor set. The option is located at the bottom of the screen after you press the TAB key.
New World: Miscellaneous Armor Interactions
It’s worth noting that you can transform your gear in the game. In other words, if you have a complete set, for instance, let’s say that you have a complete skin set, then you can apply that attire to your current equipment, for this New World Armor Guide. It’s mainly to store cosmetics, but there are several complete sets to unlock in the game.
If that’s not what you prefer, you can always utilize dyes to change the look of your equipment. Dyes can be acquired by harvesting different plants in the open world, and each plant offers a different color which is the potential dye that you will obtain when you harvest them.
